About this Opportunity
We are seeking an Executive Director for our hospice agency in San Diego, CA! As the Executive Director, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, managing, and directing all activities and programs of the agency. In starting up and growing this new agency, an entrepreneurial spirit and experience building dynamic, multi-disciplinary teams will be vital. You will oversee and guide our team in all aspects along with establishing standards of care to comply with federal and state regulations and guidelines. Our ideal candidate will be a skilled individual with an extensive knowledge of Home Health and/or Hospice and will be comfortable establishing, implementing, and evaluating goals and objectives for home health services that meet and promote the standards of quality and contribute to the total organization and philosophy. Someone who is compassionate, goal-oriented, innovative, and who possesses excellent interpersonal skills would be a great fit for this position.
Availability
This is a full-time, Monday – Friday position with some on-call and after hours responsibility.
Responsibilities of this Role
1. Planning, directing and evaluating operations to ensure the provision of adequate and appropriate care and services.
2. Complying with applicable laws and regulations.
3. Assuring that all business conduct is above minimum standards required by law and not condoning any activities that achieve results through violation of the law or unethical business/patient care practices.
4. Overseeing fiscal planning, budgeting, and management of all operations in accordance with fiscal parameters.
5. Implementing governing body directives and ensuring that appropriate service policies are developed and implemented and maintain ongoing liaison between the governing body and the staff.
6. Organizing and directing the ongoing functions of the agency.
7. Recruiting, employing, and retaining qualified personnel to maintain appropriate staffing levels.
8. Establishing and maintaining effective channels of communication.
9. In conjunction with the Director of Patient Care Services, ensuring all home health and hospice personnel have current clinical information and current practices and ensuring that a clinical manager is available during all operating hours.
10. Directing and monitoring organizational performance improvement activities.
11. Ensuring staff development, including orientation, in-service education, continuing education, and evaluation of staff.
12. Ensuring that a clinical manager is available during all operating hours.
13. Ensuring the accuracy of public information materials and activities, including advertisements and brochures that the agency uses to represent itself to the community-at-large.
14. Assuring that skilled nursing and other therapeutic services furnished are under the supervision and direction of a physician or registered nurse.
15. Assuring appropriate staff supervision during all operating hours.
16. Assuring the development and qualifications for professional services and the assignment of personnel.
17. Ensuring the accuracy of public information materials and activities.
18. Appointing a similarly qualified alternate to be available at all times during operating hours in the absence of the administrator.
19. Being on-call as necessary.
20.. Informing the governing body and staff of current organizational, community, and industry trends.
21. Ensuring that structure and systems promote interdisciplinary care.
22. Ensuring collaboration with agencies and vendors for effective management of services.
23. Ensuring standards of ethical business and clinical practice are maintained.
The administrator may have responsibilities over more than one parent agency, provided that the administrator can demonstrate the adequacy of administrative and nursing supervision over each parent agency through ongoing Quality Management review.

Experience
- Minimum of 3 years in hospice or home health (both preferred, but not required)
- Experience in Portland market required
- RN preferred, but not required
- Sales experience is a plus, but not required
